Job summary

Questech Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer for a well-established manufacturing site in Huddersfield. The role covers planned preventative maintenance and reactive repair across the site, with a focus on mechanical and electrical fault-finding on production machinery, hydraulics and pneumatics, and using a CMMS to record activity.

• Experience as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer in manufacturing/industrial environment.
• 18th Edition qualification for electrically biased engineers.

Responsibilities

• Carry out PPM and reactive maintenance across the site.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults on production machinery.
• Maintain bulk handling systems, automated transport equipment and filling machinery.
• Record maintenance activities using CMMS and support CI projects.

Job description

Questech Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing company based in Huddersfield.

Location: Huddersfield, West Yorkshire

Salary: £19–£21 per hour DOE + 10% Shift Allowance

Hours: 38 hours per week

Shifts: Monday to Friday – Rotating Double Days

Job Type: Permanent

Key Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across the site.
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults on production machinery.
• Maintaining bulk handling systems, automated transport equipment and filling machinery.
• Working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Responding to breakdowns efficiently to minimise production downtime.
• Recording maintenance activities using a computerised maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Supporting continuous improvement projects and root cause analysis.
• Working closely with production teams to improve machinery reliability and efficiency.
• Ensuring all maintenance work complies with health and safety regulations.

The Person

• Apprentice-trained in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Previous experience working as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Experience working with hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• 18th Edition qualification required for electrically biased engineers.
• Fabrication and welding experience would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of PUWER regulations and safe working practices.
• A proactive, hands‑on approach with strong problem‑solving skills.

Salary & Benefits

• Hourly Rate: £19–£21 per hour, depending on experience.
• Shift Allowance: Additional 10%.
• Working Hours: 38 hours per week.
• Shift Pattern:
  • Earlies: Monday–Thursday 6am–2pm, Friday 6am–12pm.
  • Afters: Monday–Thursday 2pm–10pm, Friday 12pm–6pm.
