Job summary

Zest Engineering is recruiting an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer for a leading food manufacturing facility in Devon, commutable from Exeter, Taunton, Tiverton, Crediton, and Newton Abbot. You will join a fast‑paced team dedicated to reliability and quality, delivering maintenance on site to keep production running smoothly.

We expect strong electrical and mechanical skills, fault-finding expertise, and a recognised qualification in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.

Qualifications

• Strong electrical and mechanical background in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Excellent fault-finding skills with a logical approach to troubleshooting both mechanical and electrical issues.
• NVQ, BTEC, or equivalent in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering; an apprenticeship is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out reactive and planned maintenance in a fast-paced environment.
• Respond quickly to machinery breakdowns to minimise production disruption.
• Repair and adjust conveyors, packaging equipment, wrappers and related food production systems.
• Work with production and engineering teams to identify improvement opportunities.
• Conduct routine safety checks and report hazards.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, parts usage and inspections.

Key Responsibilities

• To carry out both reactive and planned maintenance in the fast paced environment.
• Rapidly respond to machinery breakdowns and failures to ensure minimum disruption to production.
• Provide hands-on repairs and adjustments on a range of machinery, including conveyors, packing equipment, wrappers and other critical food production systems.
• Work closely with the production and engineering teams to identify improvement opportunities.
• Conduct routine safety checks, report hazards, and ensure safe working practices are always followed.
• Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and parts usage.
