Job description

Position: Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer (Electrical bias)
Location: Hyde, Greater Manchester
Salary: Dependant on experience. 36-hour week

PRS Engineering has engaged with a key client and a leading manufacturer, based in Hyde, Greater Manchester. Due to team expansion, we are hiring a Maintenance Engineer, multi-skilled with an electrical bias on a permanent full-time basis.

Ideally, you will have experience of press, injection moulding and assembly machines, conveyors, installation (single and 3ph) and panel wiring is preferred.

Reporting the Facilities Manager, in what will be a very much “hands” on pro-active role, you will be responsible for all aspects of fault diagnosing, electrical and mechanical repair and maintenance of machinery including automated assembly cells / injection moulding / hydraulic presses.

The role will also involve some electrical installation work throughout the site on things such as armored cable feeding new machinery and equipment, lighting, and power installations throughout the plant as well as Completing PPM activities of factory services and equipment and also supporting new installations of plant and other equipment.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in a similar role with an extensive understanding of electrical and mechanical practices, with the ability to identify potential issues and advise on corrective course of measures.

Main Purpose of the Role:

  • To maintain all electrical and mechanical equipment on site including services, distribution, plant machinery and miscellaneous equipment in accordance with relevant current legislation and ensure that documentation and records are kept accordingly.
  • To carryout electrical installation work when required for new plant, machinery, equipment, and services ensuring compliance with the relevant current legislation.
  • To meet requirements of all departments in their daily operations by carrying out various electrical and mechanical works.
  • To be proactively involved in monitoring the condition of services and machinery reporting defects to the Facilities Manager immediately.

Main Responsibilities and Duties:

  • To carry out both reactive and planned maintenance throughout the site.
  • Fault find, Diagnose and repair (where possible), faults that occur in the building services, plant, machinery, and other equipment.
  • Assist with the training of apprentices and any other training needs of maintenance team.
  • Ensure that all work is carried out to current safety standards, to an agreed standard and meets with current legislation.

Essential Criteria:

  • NVQ Level 3 or above in electrical/multiskilled discipline.
  • Apprentice Trained (or equivalent).
  • Good Mechanical knowledge/experience
  • PLC, HMI experience

Desirable Criteria:

  • Previous experience of working in a factory environment.
  • BS 7671 18th
  • IPAF

Working Hours:

  • 36 hours per week 06:00-13:30/13:30-06:00 Monday to Thursday
  • And 06:00-12:00/12:00-18:00 Friday
  • Probationary period hours will be days based 08:00-17:00 for training purposes.
