Job summary

Hoop Recruitment Ltd is seeking a practical Multi-Skilled Handy Person to work in customers' homes. You will primarily focus on cold water plumbing (roughly 70%), with the rest covering general handyman and property maintenance tasks.

You’ll need to be reliable, respectful and able to work independently to keep homes safe and well maintained. The role requires hands-on skills in plumbing, maintenance and basic carpentry, plus strong customer service.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out cold water plumbing repairs and installations.

• Putting up grab rails and other home adaptations.
• Completing job sheets and paperwork accurately.

Are you a practical, hands‑on person who likes fixing things, helping people, and finishing a job knowing you’ve made a real difference? We’re working with a fantastic Care & Repair business that is looking for a Multi‑Skilled Handy Person to join their team. This is a varied role where around 70% of your work will focus on cold water plumbing, with the remaining 30% covering general handyman and property maintenance tasks. You’ll be working in customers’ homes, helping to keep properties safe, functional and well maintained — so alongside your practical skills, you’ll need to be someone who takes pride in their work and treats people with care and respect.

What will you be doing?

Your day‑to‑day work will include:

• Carrying out cold water plumbing repairs and installations
• Repairing and replacing taps, valves, pipes, toilets, cisterns and other water fittings
• Identifying and resolving leaks and minor plumbing issues
• Carrying out general property repairs and maintenance
• Basic carpentry, joinery, tiling, patching and making good
• Putting up grab rails, handrails and other household adaptations where required
• Carrying out minor repairs to doors, fixtures, fittings and furniture
• Responding to jobs efficiently and completing work to a high standard
• Keeping customers informed and providing a friendly, professional service
• Completing job sheets and relevant paperwork accurately
• Working safely and following all company procedures

What are we looking for?

The essentials:

• Previous experience in plumbing, property maintenance or a multi‑skilled maintenance role
• Good practical knowledge of cold water plumbing systems
• A broad range of basic handyman/maintenance skills
• The ability to diagnose problems and find practical solutions
• A good eye for detail and pride in your workmanship
• Excellent customer service skills
• The ability to work independently and manage your own workload
• A full UK driving licence
• A DBS is required for the role (carried out once an offer has been made if not on the Update Service)
• A professional, friendly and approachable manner

Experience of working in social housing, care & Repair, adaptations or customers’ homes would be ideal, but isn’t essential.
