Avara Foods Ltd. is seeking a Multi Skilled Engineer for our Hereford feed mill.

You will optimise machinery output, improve product quality and minimise downtime through preventative maintenance, while upholding safety and hygiene standards. The role is factory-based, requires 4+ years engineering experience and an Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering, with desirable IEE 17th/18th Edition, PLC, and BOAS qualifications.

Formación

• 4+ years of engineering experience and Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering
• Mechanical/electrical knowledge incl. welding/fabrication
• Self-motivated and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Interpersonal communication skills
• Flexible team player
• Basic computing (Excel/Word/email)
• Food manufacture experience desirable
• IEE 17th/18th Edition desirable
• PLC experience desirable
• Air and pneumatics trained desirable
• BOAS certification desirable

Responsabilidades

• Assist in building an up-to-date PPM system and ensure maintenance is carried out promptly
• Ensure maintenance aligns with current schedule and corrective action is effective
• Respond quickly to breakdowns and identify root causes to prevent recurrence
• Communicate unscheduled breakdowns to Shift Supervisor and minimise downtime
• Report lost time, breakdown causes and parts used/needed
• Follow engineering standards and hygiene practices for the department
• Comply with health, safety and environmental guidelines and report issues
• Assist in PUWER, LOLER, and risk assessments
• Calibrate process weighers and liquid meters as per weights and measures rules
• Work in hazardous environments (confined spaces, hot work, WAH)
• Participate in mechanical projects (elevators, conveyors, installs)
• Participate in electrical projects (panel, PLC upgrades, PAT testing, thermography)
• Operate effluent plant systems and ensure environmental compliance
• Understand fire suppression systems (Fire Trace, Sprinkler, Hydrant)
• Escalate downtime appropriately and minimise downtime through good engineering practice
• Consider environmental impacts (DSEAR, dust controls, explosion mitigation)
• Raise spare stock and non-stock requests
