Job summary

Avara Foods is recruiting a Multi Skilled Engineer for our Allensmore, Hereford manufacturing site. You will maintain safe, efficient operation of the animal feed facility, maximise plant performance and support continuous improvement through preventative and reactive maintenance.

The role requires a Level 3 Engineering qualification with 18th Edition advantageous. Expect a rotating day/night pattern averaging 42 hours per week, with competitive benefits and 31 days leave.

Responsibilities

• Maintain hygiene and engineering standards across site.
• Ensure compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.
• Support audits and engineering compliance.

Avara Foods is looking for a motivated and proactive Multi Skilled Engineer to join our Engineering team at our Feed Mill in Allensmore, Hereford.

This role would suit someone with a Level 3 Engineering qualification and experience working in a manufacturing environment. An 18th Edition qualification and multi-skilled experience would be advantageous.

• Single Skilled Engineer Salary: £36,756.72 per annum
• Multi Skilled Engineer Salary: £40,818.96 per annum
• Shift Premium: £7,550 per annum

Shift Pattern

This is a rotating day and night shift pattern averaging 42 hours per week across a 6-week cycle.

Weeks 1 & 3

• Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday: 06:00 - 18:00
• Thursday & Friday: Off
• Saturday & Sunday: 06:00 - 18:00

The Role

As a Multi Skilled Engineer, you will play a vital role in maintaining the safe and efficient operation of our animal feed manufacturing facility. You'll be responsible for maximising plant performance, reducing downtime and supporting continuous improvement through preventative and reactive maintenance activities.

This is a fast-paced manufacturing environment where maintaining high standards of safety, hygiene and engineering excellence is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs on plant and equipment
• Diagnose faults, identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions
• Minimise downtime through a fast and effective response to equipment failures
• Communicate breakdowns and maintenance issues to management and operational teams
• Accurately record maintenance activities and parts usage via the CMMS system
• Maintain engineering and hygiene standards across the site
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company policies and legislative requirements
• Support audits and maintain engineering compliance standards
• Complete process weigher and liquid meter calibrations in accordance with regulatory requirements
• Work safely within hazardous environments, including confined spaces, hot work activities and working at height
• Support mechanical projects, including conveyors, elevators, machine installations and refurbishments
• Support electrical projects, including panel installation, PLC upgrades, PAT testing and thermographic surveys
• Operate and maintain effluent treatment systems to ensure environmental compliance
• Maintain and support fire protection and suppression systems
• Demonstrate an understanding of DSEAR regulations, dust control measures and explosion mitigation systems

• IEE 17th or 18th Edition qualification

• Boiler Operator Accreditation Scheme (BOAS) certification
