Job summary

Avara Foods is seeking a Single Skilled or Multi Skilled Engineer for our hatchery in Shobdon, Herefordshire. You will perform planned and reactive maintenance on plant and incubators, diagnose faults and implement corrective actions, with a focus on minimizing downtime and maintaining safety and hygiene standards.

We welcome applicants with either electrical or mechanical bias and offer funded training to become multi-skilled.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent in engineering.
• Single-skilled or multi-skilled engineering experience.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Proactive approach to health and safety.
• Flexible, reliable and able to work as part of a small team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs on plant, equipment and incubators.
• Diagnose faults, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Minimise downtime with fast response to equipment failures.
• Record maintenance activities and spare parts usage accurately.
• Support compliance with engineering standards and safety procedures.
• Assist with audits and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
