Job summary

Avara Foods is hiring a Single Skilled or Multi Skilled Engineer for our hatchery in Shobdon, Herefordshire. The role covers planned and reactive maintenance across plant and equipment, with focus on uptime and safety.

You'll join a rotating shift pattern, earning £16.83–£18.69 per hour plus a night standby and on-call rota. We offer extensive training, career development, and a range of employee benefits.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship in engineering.
• Experience as single-skilled or multi-skilled engineer.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Proactive health and safety approach.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Flexible and reliable team player.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on plant and incubators.
• Diagnose faults, identify root causes and implement fixes.
• Minimise downtime with rapid response to faults.
• Record maintenance and spare parts in the system.
• Maintain site hygiene and safety standards.
• Support electrical and mechanical projects and refurbishments.
• Calibrate process weighers and liquid meters as required.
• Assist with effluent plant operation and environmental compliance.
• Support audits and engineering compliance.
