Energy Jobline CVL is recruiting for a JMB73 – Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer in Leeds. The role involves hands-on maintenance on plant machinery at a high-volume site with a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern and a January 2027 start date.

The successful candidate will diagnose electrical and mechanical faults, work on PLC-controlled systems and contribute to continuous improvement while upholding health and safety standards. Ex-military applications are welcomed.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on plant machinery and site equipment
• Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults to minimise downtime
• Work on PLC-controlled systems, 3-phase motors, boilers, bearings, conveyors and associated machinery
• Complete routine inspections and maintenance checks
• Support production teams to ensure equipment reliability and performance
• Maintain maintenance records and documentation
• Follow Health & Safety procedures and safe systems of work
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering projects
• Respond to breakdowns and call-outs when required
• Help maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment

Overview

The successful candidate will join an experienced engineering team at a busy, high-volume manufacturing site in Leeds, keeping plant machinery, utilities and site equipment running safely and efficiently through planned and reactive maintenance. This is a hands‑on role for an engineer who enjoys problem‑solving and fault finding, and the client is looking to have the right person in post for a January 2027 start.

Our client encourages applications from ex‑military personnel, particularly former Navy Marine Engineers and Armed Forces personnel with strong mechanical and electrical experience; however, all candidates will be given due consideration.

Duties and Responsibilities

Desirable

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Experience with PLC‑controlled equipment and automated systems
• Background in manufacturing, FMCG, production or industrial environments
• Engineering experience gained within the Armed Forces or another highly disciplined technical environment
