Job summary

MacGregor Black is partnering with a leading FMCG manufacturer to recruit a Multi-Skilled Engineer to join an established engineering team. The role focuses on keeping a fast-paced production environment safe, efficient and reliable, with involvement in continuous improvement programmes.

As a Shift Engineer, you will maintain a wide range of production and process equipment, ensuring maximum plant availability and supporting operational performance within a modern facility.

Qualifications

• Maintenance engineer with experience in FMCG or fast-paced environments.
• Strong fault-finding across mechanical and electrical systems.
• Qualified in an engineering discipline (Apprenticeship/NVQ/HNC or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across production lines.
• Diagnose and fix mechanical and electrical faults to reduce downtime.
• Support continuous improvement to raise equipment reliability.
• Collaborate with Production, Technical and Engineering teams.
• Assist with machinery installations and upgrades.

As a Shift Engineer, you'll be responsible for maintaining a wide range of production and process equipment, ensuring maximum plant availability, and supporting operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across manufacturing equipment.
• Diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical faults to minimise downtime.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
• Working collaboratively with Production, Technical and Engineering teams.
• Assisting with machinery installations, upgrades and improvement projects.
• Ensuring all engineering work is completed in line with Health & Safety, Quality and Food Safety standards.
• What We're Looking For
• Experience as a Maintenance Engineer, Shift Engineer or Multi-Skilled Engineer.
• Background within FMCG, food manufacturing, beverage manufacturing or another fast-paced production environment.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across mechanical and/or electrical systems.
• Experience delivering planned and reactive maintenance.
• A recognised engineering qualification (Apprenticeship, NVQ, HNC or equivalent).
• A proactive approach with a passion for continuous improvement.
