Job summary

Omega Plc in Erith is seeking a Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer to support safe and efficient operation of production machinery and site services. You will respond quickly to breakdowns, diagnose faults, perform planned maintenance, and contribute to continuous improvement to boost reliability and meet production targets.

The role requires strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills and a hands-on approach in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship or recognised engineering qualification.
• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical, Mechanical, or Multi-Skilled Engineering.
• ONC/HNC in Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding experience within a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Respond quickly to production breakdowns, diagnosing and resolving faults.
• Carry out planned maintenance (PPM) in line with schedules.
• Maintain and repair production machinery, plant equipment and site services.
• Complete electrical and mechanical repairs to a high standard while minimising downtime.
• Support continuous improvement activities to improve reliability and efficiency.
• Carry out machinery installations, upgrades and modifications in line with PUWER regulations.
• Work alongside contractors and ensure site procedures are followed.
• Accurately complete maintenance documentation and shift handovers.
• Manage spare parts requirements and stores processes.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping, GMP, health & safety, and food safety compliance.
• Follow escalation procedures and support operational priorities across the site.

Join a well-established manufacturing business as a Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer, supporting the safe and efficient operation of production machinery and site services. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy engineering team where you'll play a key role in minimising downtime, improving reliability, and ensuring production targets are achieved.

• Respond quickly to production breakdowns, diagnosing and resolving electrical and mechanical faults.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in line with maintenance schedules.
• Maintain and repair production machinery, plant equipment, and site services.
• Complete electrical and mechanical repairs to a high standard while minimising downtime.
• Support continuous improvement activities to improve reliability and efficiency.
• Carry out machinery installations, upgrades, and modifications in line with PUWER regulations.
• Work alongside contractors and ensure all site procedures are followed.
• Accurately complete maintenance documentation and detailed shift handovers.
• Manage spare parts requirements and ensure correct stores processes are followed.

Experience / Qualifications - Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer

• Time-served apprenticeship or recognised engineering qualification.
• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical, Mechanical, or Multi-Skilled Engineering.
• ONC/HNC in Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience working on 415V 3-phase production machinery and factory services.
• PLC fault-finding experience.
• Good understanding of pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
• Experience carrying out electrical installations to current regulations.
• Ability to build and modify electrical control panels.
• Knowledge of industrial motors, motor controls, and associated equipment.
• Able to work effectively within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
