Job summary

Virani Food Products Limited is seeking a proactive Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our Engineering team in the UK. You will maintain, troubleshoot and improve production and packaging equipment in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

Reporting to the Reliability Manager, you will drive equipment reliability through planned maintenance, root-cause analysis and continuous improvement, while ensuring health and safety and quality standards are met.

Qualifications

• Apprentice-trained maintenance technician with formal qualification.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably food/FMCG.
• Strong fault-finding across electrical and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and electrical schematics.
• Commitment to health and safety standards and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production and packaging equipment.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and minimise downtime.
• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults.
• Support continuous improvement to enhance reliability and performance.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain maintenance records in CMMS system.
• Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and engineering standards.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality and Operations teams.

We are seeking a proactive and motivated Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our Engineering team and help drive reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement across our production operations.

The Role

Reporting to the Reliability Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving a wide range of production and packaging equipment within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities in line with maintenance schedules.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and minimise production downtime.
• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults on manufacturing and packaging equipment.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records using the company's CMMS system.
• Support installation and commissioning of new equipment and machinery.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, health & safety, and engineering standards.
• Work collaboratively with Production, Quality, and Operations teams to achieve business objectives.

Skills & Experience Required

• Apprentice trained (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent).
• Multi-skilled maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
• Experience with motors, sensors, inverters, conveyors, pneumatics.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and electrical schematics.
• Good understanding of health and safety requirements.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Previous experience in food, FMCG, packaging, or process manufacturing.
• PLC fault-finding experience.
• Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies.
