Job summary

Winsearch is recruiting a Multi-Skilled Engineer in Oldham, Greater Manchester. You will carry out preventative, reactive and predictive maintenance across production lines, fault-find across diverse equipment and support continuous improvement initiatives.

The role operates on a Panama shift pattern (7am–7pm / 7pm–7am). Benefits include 25 days holiday plus eight bank holidays, health care cash plan, staff discounts, free onsite parking and enhanced parental leave.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (essential)
• Apprentice Trained (essential)
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (essential)
• FMCG experience (desirable)
• Strong fault‑finding background (desirable)
• Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate (desirable)

Responsibilities

• Minimise machinery downtime with production teams.
• Carry out preventive, predictive and reactive maintenance.
• Respond to breakdowns to keep downtime to a minimum.
• Perform electrical, mechanical, fabrication and pipework installations.
• Fault find across a wide range of equipment.
• Produce drawings, measurements and specifications for spare parts.
• Support Continuous Improvement and KPI targets.
• Comply with HACCP and food safety requirements.
• Supervise contractor activity when required.
• Support Engineering Management and team requests.
• Contribute to MTBF/MTTR KPIs and downtime reduction.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with production teams to minimise machinery downtime and ensure all preventative maintenance is completed ahead of schedule
• Carry out reactive maintenance, planned preventative maintenance and predictive maintenance activities
• Respond effectively to breakdowns to keep downtime to a minimum
• Complete engineering installations including electrical, mechanical, fabrication, plumbing and pipework
• Fault find across a wide range of production and process equipment
• Produce drawings, measurements and specifications for required spare parts
• Make recommendations and implement improvements to support Continuous Improvement activity
• Comply with all technical, HACCP and food safety requirements
• Supervise contractor activity when required
• Support any reasonable requests from the Engineering Management Team
• Contribute to key KPIs including MTBF, MTTR, accidents, downtime, technical non‑conformances and work requests

Education and Experience

• Apprentice Trained
• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
• Desirable
• Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate
• FMCG experience
• Strong fault‑finding background
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
