Job summary

Ibstock Plc in Northwich is hiring a Multi Skilled Engineer (Mechanical Bias) to join our manufacturing team on a 4-day week with 10-hour shifts. You will deliver plant-wide maintenance, support production targets and perform mechanical repairs to heavy machinery, while working with other functions to optimise factory performance.

We seek time-served engineers with mechanical maintenance experience, pneumatics/hydraulics fault diagnosis, welding/fabrication knowledge, and solid IT skills.

Qualifications

• Time Served or equivalent engineering maintenance qualification.
• Maintenance experience with fault diagnosis of pneumatics and hydraulics.
• Knowledge of welding / basic fabrication.
• Computer literacy (MS Word and Excel).
• Knowledge of basic continuous improvement tools.
• Awareness of Health and Safety regulations in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Promote the highest Health and Safety standards to ensure a safe working environment.
• Carry out mechanical maintenance and repairs to existing heavy machinery, potentially installing new plant, designing and fabricating parts/structures.
• Ensure rigorous application of continuous improvement tools and techniques across all areas of the manufacturing facility to optimise performance.
• Work collaboratively across all support functions, by building effective working relationships, to optimise factory performance.

To support our progress, we are currently recruiting for a Multi Skilled Engineer (Mechanical Biased) to come and join our team at our Northwich factory. The shift pattern is a 10 hour 4 day week, with a two-week pattern of Mon to Thu followed by Tue to Fri 10 hour days.

The successful candidate will be providing plant wide maintenance service, departmental support and mechanical repairs ensuring that all production targets are maintained.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

• Time Served, Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering Maintenance (Mechanical), Engineering Manufacture (Mechanical), Mechatronics (Mechanical) or equivalent
• Maintenance experience and fault diagnosis of Pneumatics and Hydraulics systems
• Knowledge of Welding / Basic Fabrication
• Computer literate in MS Word and Excel
• Knowledge of basic continuous improvement tools and techniques
• Good knowledge of current Health and Safety Law and best practice application within a manufacturing environment
