Job summary

Alexander Steele Recruitment is seeking a Multi-Skilled Engineer to join a well-established food manufacturing operation in Lancashire. Shift pattern: Monday–Friday, 4:30pm–1:00am.

You’ll maintain and improve production equipment, carry out planned and reactive maintenance and help minimise downtime across the site. The role requires hands-on electrical and mechanical fault-finding, with a Level 3 engineering qualification or equivalent, and experience in a fast-paced FMCG environment.

Qualifications

• A recognised Level 3 engineering qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent.
• Strong experience in both electrical and mechanical fault finding and maintenance.
• Previous experience within a food manufacturing, FMCG or similar fast-paced production environment.
• Good knowledge of machinery safety, isolation procedures and LOTO.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations where applicable.
• A proactive approach to maintenance and continuous improvement.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• The ability to work independently while also being a strong team player.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across a range of production and packaging equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults quickly and effectively to minimise production downtime.
• Support production teams to maximise line availability, efficiency and output.
• Identify recurring machinery faults and proactively implement solutions to improve reliability.
• Maintain accurate records of breakdowns, maintenance activities and PPMs.
• Support machinery upgrades, improvement projects and wider site development.
• Manage spare parts requirements and maintain appropriate stock levels.
• Carry out general building and ancillary maintenance where required.
• Communicate technical issues effectively with production and other departments.
• Work to strict food safety, hygiene, health & safety and GMP standards.

The Role

As a Multi-Skilled Engineer, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient running of production equipment, carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance and minimising downtime across the site.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:
