Job summary

KellyOCG seeks a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician for a highly automated production facility in Darlington. The role requires mechanical and electrical expertise to troubleshoot complex equipment, improve reliability, and support world-class manufacturing operations.

The successful candidate will minimize downtime, drive improvements, and maintain production equipment in a fast-paced environment. Shift pattern includes early and late shifts with potential nights.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship in a relevant engineering discipline.
• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronic, or related field.
• Significant hands-on maintenance experience in manufacturing, industrial, or production environments.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Solid understanding of machine safety systems, LOTO procedures, and safe working practices.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control systems.
• Identify equipment issues and implement solutions to improve reliability, uptime, and production efficiency.
• Carry out preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance across equipment and facilities.
• Diagnose faults using drawings, schematics, test equipment, and documentation.
• Support continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, productivity, and performance.
• Maintain maintenance records and enter breakdown data into the CMMS for analysis.
• Ensure all activities comply with standards, quality requirements, and safety procedures.
• Apply LOTO procedures and energy control practices.
• Provide guidance to less experienced team members as needed.
• Respond effectively to changing production priorities.

What You'll Do

As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician, you will:

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control systems.
• Identify equipment issues and implement effective solutions to improve reliability, uptime, and overall production efficiency.
• Carry out preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities across manufacturing equipment and facilities.
• Diagnose faults using electrical drawings, schematics, test equipment, and technical documentation.
• Support continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, productivity, and operational performance.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and enter breakdown data into the CMMS to support performance analysis and reliability improvements.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are completed in line with engineering standards, quality requirements, and safety procedures.
• Work safely with multiple energy sources, applying LOTO procedures and best practices at all times.
• Provide technical guidance and support to less experienced team members when required.
• Respond effectively to changing production priorities and operational needs.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Recognized apprenticeship in a relevant engineering discipline.
• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronic, or related Engineering field.
• Significant hands-on maintenance experience within a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Solid understanding of machine safety systems, LOTO procedures, and safe working practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• ONC, HNC, or equivalent technical qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronic Engineering.
• Experience troubleshooting Siemens PLC-controlled equipment.
• Familiarity with industrial automation and robotic systems.
• Knowledge of conveyor systems, automated material handling equipment, and automated guided or delivery vehicles.
• Experience using CMMS systems for maintenance planning and reporting.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to prioritize and respond effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
