Job summary

Forward Assist Recruitment Ltd in Middlesbrough is seeking an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing operation. This hands-on role focuses on keeping plant, machinery and control systems operating safely and reliably.

You will work across planned and reactive maintenance, diagnose faults and carry out installation and maintenance across electrical and mechanical systems, with a competitive salary of £47k dependent on experience.

Qualifications

  • recognised Mechanical or Electrical Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent engineering qualification.
  • Previous experience within a maintenance engineering role, ideally in manufacturing, process, heavy engineering or another industrial environment.
  • Strong electrical and/or mechanical fault-finding ability.
  • Experience responding to plant and machinery breakdowns.
  • An understanding of planned preventative maintenance.
  • Knowledge of PLCs and plant control systems would be advantageous.
  • Good awareness of engineering safety, risk assessment and compliance.
  • Confidence working both independently and as part of an engineering team.
  • Good communication and basic computer skills.
  • A practical, logical approach to fault-finding and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

  • Responding to electrical and mechanical breakdowns and diagnosing faults efficiently.
  • Carrying out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across plant and equipment.
  • Completing electrical installation work where required.
  • Supporting the maintenance and reliability of electrical and control systems.
  • Fault-finding across mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Working with PLC and plant control systems.
  • Ensuring engineering activities meet relevant safety and compliance standards.
  • Completing appropriate risk assessments before undertaking work.
  • Supporting equipment installations, modifications and maintenance activities.
  • Liaising with third-party contractors when required.
  • Working closely with production, engineering and other stakeholders across the site.
  • Recording maintenance activity accurately and helping ensure planned work is completed effectively.

Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience 47k

The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing operation in Middlesbrough.

This is a hands-on role within a busy industrial environment where you'll play an important part in keeping plant, machinery and control systems operating safely and reliably.

You'll work across both planned and reactive maintenance, responding to breakdowns, diagnosing faults and carrying out installation and maintenance activities across electrical and mechanical systems.

If you're an experienced maintenance engineer who enjoys fault-finding, problem-solving and getting equipment back up and running properly, this could be an excellent next move.

What You'll Be Doing
