Job summary

Durham County Council is seeking a qualified Painter & Decorator to join the Strategic Facilities Management, Repairs & Maintenance Team. You will perform painting and decorating across council buildings, following drawings and client requirements, while ensuring safety and timely delivery.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years' post-qualification experience, works independently, and communicates well with customers and colleagues, delivering high-quality results with a strong focus on safety.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds / NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Painting & Decorating.
• Minimum 2 years' post-qualification experience.
• Ability to read drawings, specifications and instructions.
• Good knowledge of health & safety in painting works.
• Confident working across multiple properties with clients.

Responsibilities

• Carry out painting and decorating works to drawings and specs.
• Complete new installations and maintenance tasks.
• Carry out general maintenance as instructed.
• Identify and repair decoration issues in commercial premises.
• Work across council buildings and client properties in County Durham.
• Work safely and use PPE; meet deadlines.
• Record completed works for business and financial purposes.
• Communicate professionally with customers, colleagues and managers.
• Promote repairs & maintenance services and develop multi-skilled capabilities.
