Job summary

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a painter/decorator to perform internal and external decorating to a high standard across multiple sites. The role involves preparing surfaces, applying coatings and hanging wallcoverings, with occasional out-of-hours duties.

The ideal candidate will have experience in painting, surface preparation and use of hand and power tools, while maintaining safety and continuing professional development. This position is based on-site within Hampshire.

Qualifications

• Experience in painting and decorating to a high craft standard.
• Competent surface preparation including cleaning, sanding, filling and patch plastering.
• Familiarity with hanging wallcoverings and applying coatings.

Responsibilities

• Carry out internal and external painting and decorating to a high craft standard.
• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, filling, patch plastering, and caulking.
• Apply coatings including emulsion, oil-based, acrylic, varnish, primers and sealers.
• Hang standard and wide-width wallcoverings.
• Undertake minor fabric repairs such as tile and grout touch-ups or sealant application.
• Maintain competent use of hand and power tools.
• Perform basic defect recognition and surface condition assessments.
• Ensure safe use of access equipment and work across sites; participate in occasional out-of-hours or shift work.
• Complete mandatory training and maintain ongoing competence.
