Job summary

Lockwood Group Ltd seeks an experienced HGV Fleet Driver Trainer to develop drivers across multiple sites in the UK. You will conduct practical assessments, coach drivers, and promote high driving standards within our transport operation.

The role requires a pro-active trainer who can work across day and night shifts, support fleet safety, and implement training using telematics and driver performance data.

Qualifications

• Full UK Category C+E licence held for 2+ years with a clean or low-endorsement record.
• Strong knowledge of HGV operations and road safety.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to provide constructive feedback.
• Willingness to travel between sites and work varying hours.
• Comfort with IT systems used in driver training.

Responsibilities

• Conduct practical driver assessments and deliver targeted one-to-one coaching to improve driving standards and performance.
• Identify training requirements using driver performance data, telematics and incident data.
• Provide training in defensive driving, hazard awareness, and forward planning.
• Carry out post-incident assessments and remedial training to prevent recurrence.
• Promote fuel-efficient driving techniques and safe vehicle operation.
• Support drivers with IT systems and software used daily, including Mandata and dashcam platforms.
• Assist with introducing and implementing new systems and processes.
