Job summary

Abbeygate Search Ltd is recruiting a qualified Financial Accountant for a privately owned, multi-entity business with a small finance team. You will own the quality of the underlying accounts, ensuring month-end is completed properly, balance sheets are reconciled and the financial information produced is accurate and dependable.

You will drive improvements to finance systems and controls, manage the regular accounting cycle and coordinate with external advisers.

Qualifications

• ACCA/ACCA/CIMA-qualified with strong accounting grounding.
• Experience with month-end close and multi-entity ledgers.
• Detail-focused and capable of improving systems and controls.

Responsibilities

• Managing the month-end close across several legal entities.
• Preparing journals, accruals, prepayments and fixed asset entries.
• Producing and reviewing monthly management accounts.
• Completing balance sheet reconciliations and resolving discrepancies.
• Preparing VAT returns and maintaining supporting records.
• Coordinating with external accountants, auditors and advisers.
• Overseeing payroll information with an external provider.
• Testing and implementing finance system improvements.
