Job summary

A Rural Surveying opportunity based in Bath with flexibility to work from Bristol. You will join an established consultancy handling valuation, consultancy, compulsory purchase and expert witness work across Bath, Bristol and surrounding counties.

The role offers variegated responsibilities, client relationship building and clear potential for progression within a dynamic rural portfolio. MRICS qualified with Right to Work in the UK is required.

Qualifications

• MRICS qualification and RICS Registered Valuer status.
• 5+ years of post-qualification experience in rural valuation.
• Strong technical, analytical and commercial mindset.
• Excellent report writing and Red Book valuations.
• Organised with attention to detail and deadline discipline.
• Willingness to develop Expert Witness and Compulsory Purchase work.
• Networking and business development skills; local connections preferred.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Valuations for loan security, taxation, charity and estate planning.
• Expert Witness development and instruction.
• Compulsory Purchase advice and consultancy.
• Rural and residential consultancy including landlord and tenant matters.
• Business development and securing new instructions from banks, solicitors and private clients.
• Manage own workload and deadlines delivering high-quality advice.

Here’s an opportunity to join an established consultancy team and build your career across a genuinely varied rural and residential portfolio.

Working across Bath, Bristol and the surrounding counties, you’ll be involved in a broad mix of valuation, consultancy, compulsory purchase and expert witness work with plenty of opportunity to develop your technical expertise, client relationships and business development skills.

You’ll be based from Bath, with the flexibility to work from Bristol when required.

What will you be doing?

A varied role with no two days looking quite the same:

• Valuations - loan security, taxation, accounts, charity, matrimonial and estate planning.
• Expert Witness - developing your expertise and building your experience in this area.
• Compulsory Purchase - advice, negotiations and associated consultancy.
• Rural & Residential Consultancy - including landlord and tenant matters.
• Business Development - building relationships and winning new instructions from banks, solicitors, accountants, private clients and other professional contacts.
• Managing your own instructions, workload and deadlines while delivering high‑quality professional advice.

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone who is:

• MRICS qualified and an RICS Registered Valuer.
• Technically strong, analytical and commercially minded.
• Confident producing high‑quality reports and Red Book valuations.
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
• Comfortable managing their own workload and working to deadlines.
• Experienced in, or keen to develop, Expert Witness and Compulsory Purchase work.
• Confident building relationships and developing new business.
• Ideally well connected within the local professional and rural market.
• A full UK driving licence holder.
