Job Description

This role is categorized as onsite, requiring reporting to Concord, NC on a full-time basis.

The Role

We are seeking a Senior Mechatronics Engineer to join the Aero Innovation team within the Motorsports Aerodynamic Department. Your main responsibility will be to develop mechatronic systems that enhance our aerodynamics development for motorsport and high-performance vehicles. You will work in a multidisciplinary team to design, develop, and optimize solutions addressing technical challenges, contributing significantly to our competitiveness.

Joining GM Motorsports will give you valuable experience, allowing you to showcase your design and engineering skills, drive innovation, and connect racing lessons to production vehicles. You will collaborate with partners and help shape the future of motorsports.

What You’ll Do
  1. Design, develop, and integrate complex mechatronic systems for automotive and aerodynamic testing.
  2. Develop system architectures and specifications meeting product requirements.
  3. Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to create innovative solutions.
  4. Work with external suppliers to evaluate and select components.
  5. Conduct system testing, analysis, and debugging for reliability and performance.
  6. Manage prototype and production solutions, including mechanical design, PCB layout, and software integration.
  7. Prepare technical reports, specifications, and presentations for stakeholders.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechatronics engineering.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and software system integration.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Siemens NX, CATIA).
  • Experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, and programming (C, C++, Python).
  • Hands-on experience with sensors, actuators, control systems, and power electronics.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with strong organization and communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in related fields.
  • Experience in automotive, motorsports, or aerodynamics testing.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Expertise in CAD and mechanical design.
  • Knowledge of control systems and theory.
