Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in High Wycombe, UK, seeks a 2nd Shift Quality Technician to lead advanced dimensional inspection using tactile CMMs and optical systems. You will develop and optimize programs, interpret GD&T, and mentor junior technicians in a fast-paced motorsport environment.

Qualifications

Apprenticeship or technical diploma with hands-on metrology experience.
Strong experience with tactile CMMs and optical metrology systems.
Proficient with CMM/optical scanning software such as Zeiss Calypso or equivalent.
Advanced GD&T knowledge and ability to read complex drawings.
Proven problem-solving ability and capability to work independently.

Responsibilities

Plan and execute inspections using CMMs, structured light, lasers and other tools.
Develop, optimize and validate CMM/optical inspection programs from CAD/drawings.
Interpret GD&T requirements and advise on measurement feasibility and results.
Lead investigations of dimensional nonconformances and drive root-cause input.
Train and mentor junior technicians in equipment use and reporting.
Collaborate with Quality Engineers to improve inspection workflows.
Contribute to metrology continuous improvement for accuracy and efficiency.
Ensure inspections comply with QMS and FIA regulations.
