Job summary

PalmerSport is seeking an Electrical & Systems Assistant to maintain and improve electrical systems across a varied high-performance vehicle fleet, including GT4 and open-cockpit cars. You will diagnose faults, analyse data, and build and install improved systems, working closely with the PalmerSport mechanics and technical staff.

The role offers hands-on engineering in a busy motorsport environment, with opportunities to support GB3/GB4 events and trackside teams.

Qualifications

• Strong familiarity with System 25 components and motorsport wiring standards.
• Practical experience with Deutsch AS and DTM connectors, fine‑gauge wiring, booting, splicing and termination.
• Ability to read, interpret and produce wiring schematics and circuit diagrams.
• Proven electrical fault-finding experience, including the confident use of a multimeter.
• Working knowledge of at least one vehicle data analysis platform, such as Pi Toolbox, MoTeC i2, Bosch WinDarab or WINTAX.
• A proactive, self‑motivated approach, with the ability to use initiative and go beyond expectations.
• Strong communication skills, with the confidence to explain technical issues and solutions to both technical and non‑technical colleagues.
• Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and the wider Microsoft Office package.

Responsibilities

• Support PalmerSport mechanics with electrical fault-finding and diagnostics.
• Repair and maintain electrical components across the vehicle fleet.
• Analyse vehicle data to spot reliability trends and improvement opportunities.
• Design and implement improved electrical systems in response to feedback.
• Produce and maintain wiring schematics and diagrams.
• Support live technical issues and contribute to reliability improvements.
• Provide technical support at events, including travel to GB3/GB4 weekends.
