Job summary

Arnold Clark is hiring an MOT Tester at our Motorstore/MG branch in Birtley. You will join a skilled team and gain hands-on experience across a wide range of makes and models while ensuring vehicles meet DVSA standards.

We offer a salary of £40,000–£50,000 DOE plus benefits, overtime paid at time and a half, and 33 days of annual leave. Training to become EV-accredited Technician is provided, plus generous discounts and private healthcare.

Qualifications

• Qualified Technician – Level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance cert. (Level 3 preferred).
• DVSA Tester Certification.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Perform MOT tests in line with DVSA standards
• Identify vehicle defects and failures
• Keep up to date with current MOT testing guidelines and best practices
• Maintaining accurate documentation and records of inspections
• Providing exceptional customer service and technical advice

About The Role

As an MOT Tester, you’ll be a key player in ensuring our customers' vehicles are safe and roadworthy. You’ll work with a skilled, motivated team in a dynamic environment, gaining hands‑on experience with a wide variety of makes and models. Plus, you'll stay ahead of the curve with the latest automotive technology!

Day-to-day duties

• Performing MOT tests in line with DVSA standards

What We’re Looking For

• Qualified Technician – Minimum level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance certification (level 3 preferred)
• Experienced & Skilled – Solid background in an MOT testing role
• DVSA Tester Certification
• Team Player – Able to work efficiently alone or with colleagues
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Detail-Oriented – Committed to delivering high-quality work
