Job summary

Pulse Healthcare seeks an experienced Anatomical Pathology Technologist to join a well-established mortuary team in the East Midlands. The locum role covers routine and high-risk post-mortem work, supporting examinations and liaising with families and external agencies.

The successful candidate will prepare, eviscerate and reconstruct bodies to a high standard, coordinate viewings, and contribute to a cross-site service while complying with health, safety and dignity standards.

Qualifications

• Level 4 Anatomical Pathology Technologist qualification required.
• Certificate in Anatomical Pathology Technology and Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology desirable.
• Membership of the Anatomical Pathologists' Association or equivalent body.
• Experience with routine and high-risk post-mortem examinations.

Responsibilities

• Participate in routine and high-risk post-mortem examinations in a busy mortuary.
• Prepare and eviscerate deceased individuals for examination by histopathologists.
• Reconstruct the deceased to a high cosmetic standard for release to families and funeral directors.
• Coordinate viewings and formal identifications for families.
• Liaise with bereaved families, Coroner's representatives, funeral directors and police.
• Manage receipt, documentation, storage and discharge of deceased individuals entering/leaving the mortuary.
• Contribute to 24-hour mortuary service via on-call rota and major incident planning.
• Support cross-site working and uphold health, safety, governance and dignity standards.
