Job summary

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Anatomical Pathology Technician to join the Mortuary Services team at Liverpool Clinical Laboratories. The role requires a Diploma/Certificate in Anatomical Pathology Techniques or equivalent, eligibility for the L3/L4 RSPH training, and commitment to confidentiality, safety, and procedural

Qualifications

• Certificate in Anatomical Pathology Techniques or equivalent qualifications/experience.
• Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Techniques.
• Evidence of appropriate practical experience in routine and high-risk post mortems.
• Evidence of undertaking forensic post mortem examinations.
• Evidence of out of hours working.
• Knowledge of coronial system.
• Knowledge of H&S within a mortuary environment.
• Understanding of HTA requirements.
• Understanding of ISO standards for UKAS accreditation.
• Evidence of good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the activities of the mortuary, providing a technical service to the Trust.
• Assist Histopathologists and Forensic Pathologists during post‑mortem examinations.
• Maintain dignity and confidentiality of the deceased at all times.
• Participate in training and competency assessments.
• Supervise and train junior staff and support staff.
