Job summary

Whittington Health NHS Trust is seeking an Anatomical Pathology Technician to join the Mortuary Services team at Whittington Hospital in London. The role requires a Level 3 Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology and a calm, professional approach to working in sensitive environments.

The successful candidate will manage autopsy suite operations, support the Medical Examiner system, supervise junior staff, and liaise with police, coroners, doctors and bereaved families.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology or equivalent.
• Experience in a mortuary environment preferred.
• Ability to manage autopsy suite and body handling.

Responsibilities

• Carry out technical work of the department with reference to the autopsy suite and body handling.
• Assist mortuary manager and Senior APT in supervision and training of junior staff.
• Display good organisational skills and handle varied and complex tasks.
• Assist with arrangement of Public Health funerals for London Borough of Islington.
• Liaise with Coroners, police, doctors, nursing staff and funeral directors.
• Participate in the Out of Hours on-call system.
