Job Title:Mortgage Underwriter

Location: Fleet, Hampshire

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm

Hybrid working 3 days in the office and 2 at home after successful completion of probationary period.

We are seeking a Mortgage Underwriter to join our Underwriting Team in Fleet, Hampshire. This role will be responsible for liaising with brokers to progress mortgage applications from initial receipt through to mortgage offer. In making your decision, you will be involved in ensuring relevant information has been received about both the potential borrower and property to assess both meet Fleet’s criteria and are suitable for lending.

This is a varied role and requires good decision-making and communication skills whilst also needing individuals with an excellent eye for detail.

Some of your day to day will include:

• Working with agreed objectives, service standards and deliverables.
• Ensuring relevant documentation and information received is checked for adherence to policy and criteria.
• Dealing with queries and enquiries effectively, accurately, and professionally, delivering excellent customer service.
• Providing prompt replies to all written correspondence.

To be successful you will need:

• Previous experience as a manual mortgage underwriter (essential).
• Currently holding a mortgage lending mandate (essential).
• Strong decision-making skills.
  
• Proven ability to exercise good commercial and professional judgment.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• CeMAP preferred or a willingness to study.
