The Money Advice Team within Cardiff Council's Advice Services delivers welfare benefits guidance to around 1,100 people each month, attending 15+ locations across Cardiff. The roles are to provide money advice across in-person, telephone, web chat and written channels from the Central Library Hub and outreach hubs.
We are seeking two committed individuals with customer service experience and strong knowledge of welfare benefits, housing benefit and council tax reduction.
The Money Advice Team, part of the larger Advice Services, is a welfare and benefits team that supports approximately 1100 people a month identifying financial support, grants and discounts and dealing with debt. Working with partners both externally and internally, they're able to ensure the best help is given to improve financial and living circumstances.
The Team is expanding due to the demand and the essential need of people visiting the 15+ locations across Cardiff that the team are committed to attending.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 committed individuals experienced in delivering excellent customer service and having a good knowledge on Welfare Benefits to deliver Money Advice.
They will deliver this service from Central Library Hub as well as the outreach hubs, Foodbank Distribution Centres that the team are committed to attending as well as the regular one off events that the team are frequently invited to attend.
The successful candidates will provide advice on Welfare Benefits, Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction as well Grants and Discounts and schemes and projects run by Cardiff Council. These services are to be delivered in person, telephone, web chat or in writing.
The successful candidates will have a good knowledge of the topics involved in Money Advice support, namely;
Relevant training will be provided on all of the above as well as IT and in house systems.
These posts are temporary until 31st March 2027.
Internal candidates who wish to apply for this position on a secondment basis must obtain approval prior to application using Form SEC1 (4.C.081). Requests may only be approved by the relevant Director/ Assistant Director/ Chief Officer or senior nominated officer graded no lower than OM2 or in the case of schools based staff the Headteacher / Governing Body.
