Job summary

Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust is seeking highly motivated Scientific Support Technologists to support sequencing-based diagnostic services in Microbiology and Virology. You will work with Illumina short-read, ONT long-read, and Sanger sequencing, gaining paediatric microbiology experience in a ISO:15189 accredited lab.

Qualifications

• Biological Science or Genetics undergraduate degree (or equivalent).
• Experience in molecular diagnostics or academic lab settings.
• Accurate pipetting skills and meticulous attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Perform nucleic acid extraction and QC steps (Qubit, Tapestation).
• Prepare sequencing libraries and load sequencing instruments (Illumina/Nanopore).
• Follow SOPs to ensure timely results for patients.
