Talisman Therapeutics Ltd is a neuroscience drug discovery research company based in Cambridge, UK. Building upon the world class knowledge and skills of its team, Talisman develops and employs proprietary human stem cell models of neurodegenerative and neurological disease to advance the development of novel therapeutics through our research projects. This is an exciting time to join the company as we develop and expand our research portfolio.

We are currently recruiting for a Molecular Biology Scientist I to join our team, working within the molecular biology assay group. This is a lab-based role, working with assays to examine the cell and molecular biology of neurodegeneration and neuroinflammation. The ideal candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to laboratory research, combined with excellent organisational skills. Day-to-day tasks include the planning and delivery of a variety of molecular biology assays, as well as working closely with the wider research team to support project delivery.We are looking for a collaborative team member who wants to make a difference as part of an experienced team. This role will require occasional weekend work based on a rota system.

Key areas of responsibility:

·Delivery of molecular biology research assays: Undertaking sample processing from cell cultures, ELISAs, immunoblotting, qPCR and other molecular biology assays as needed for projects; analysis of primary assay data; preparing assay reports; workflow scheduling; communication of progress; delivering in timely manner as agreed with the project lead.

·Laboratory organisational support: assisting with laboratory operations including planning consumables requirements, preparing stocks and maintaining a safe working environment; liaising with purchasing team.

·Assay and automation development: Evaluation, implementation and optimisation of novel molecular assays as needed for research projects and exploration of automation of assays where appropriate, in discussion with project leads and senior scientific leadership.

Skills and qualifications:

An honours degree in the biological or physical sciences and a Masters or PhD in a relevant field (or equivalent experience) is essential. A background in neuroscience, neurodegeneration or inflammation research is desirable.

Essential skills include:

·Hands-on molecular biology experience, with demonstrated familiarity with a variety of techniques: e.g., protein, DNA and RNA preparation from cell culture samples and analytical methods;

·Good documentation, communication and organisational skills.
