Role Overview

The Mold Design Engineer is responsible for designing and developing molding concepts. The engineer must have excellent problem-solving skills and develop creative solutions.

The aim of the job is:

• Ensure proper design and development of mold concepts/designs using 3D software in collaboration with Global Ennovi teams, suppliers, and internal sites.
• Provide optimal solutions to new product challenges.
• Support the introduction of new tools for new products with the Industrial Product Design Team & New Program personnel to ensure high process reliability.
• Lead the injection molding tooling technical functions for internal and client teams and manage new injection mold tool introductions to operations.
• Manage optimization, maintenance, and troubleshooting projects on existing molding tools.
• Ensure all engineering changes follow relevant procedures, including documentation, manuals, and CAD controls.
• Guide tooling personnel by reviewing tool downtime, preventative maintenance, and escalation procedures to meet targets.
• Coordinate planning and communication of all new and existing tool projects using visual communication boards.

Main Responsibilities

Responsible for:

• Design and develop mold concepts/designs through 3D software in collaboration with global teams, suppliers, and internal sites.
• Lead tool design reviews for new molds.
• Collaborate with tool suppliers on new mold developments as the lead responsible.
• Define tooling standards aligned with Ennovi's global strategy.
• Conduct DFM and tolerance studies.
• Manage mold flow requirements and interpret data for tooling considerations.

Cooperative responsibilities include:

• Work with automation teams to meet design and process expectations.
• Provide hands-on support with plant operations.
• Participate in developing measurement inspection techniques, fixtures, and test methods.
• Share best practices for robust mold design and manufacturing.
• Control all tooling drawings at the local site.
• Engage in R&R activities and lessons learned processes.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in a relevant field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in design and manufacturing of molding tools for the precision connector industry.
• Experience in overmolding for automotive connectors.
• Proficiency with high-end 3D molding software.
• Knowledge of molding processes and troubleshooting techniques (e.g., 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa).
• Ability to read technical documentation.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Basic presentation skills.
• Minimum B2 level English skills.
• Willingness to travel.

Estimated distribution of working time:

• 70% injection mold design and development.
• 25% administration.
• 5% training.
