Job summary

Cadillac Formula 1 Team at Silverstone seeks a Model Design Engineer to own wind tunnel parts and drive design projects from CAD creation to documentation. You will collaborate with Aerodynamicists and Surface Design Engineers to ensure alignment with specifications and aero targets, delivering robust, validated components for testing.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Design, Motorsport, or related discipline or equivalent.
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software (preferably 3DExperience/CATIA) and experience in using FEA for structural validation of parts
• Strong understanding of parametric modeling, part robustness, and model layout principles
• Strong knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes, including composites and advanced digital manufacturing techniques
• Strong understanding of GD&T and its application and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
• Enthusiastic contributor to a collaborative, inclusive, and open culture and highly detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering work right the first time
• Willing to travel and work flexible hours during race season

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, well-validated parts for wind tunnel testing in line with aerodynamic targets
• Support on complete design projects, including CAD creation, project management, quality-checking, and documentation
• Continuously improve the functionality, quality, and robustness of model parts to optimize wind tunnel test efficiency
• Drive the development and implementation of improved design workflows and standards
• Collaborate closely with Aerodynamicists and Surface Design Engineers to ensure alignment with technical specifications
• Ensure adherence to standard design practices and help refine them as needed
