Job summary

Veolia is seeking a Mobile Electrical Maintenance Technician to support industrial utilities across Wigan, Preston and Manchester. You will perform maintenance on steam boilers, air compressors, cooling towers and water treatment plants, ensuring reliability and compliance.

The role offers a salary of 40,000 to 46,000 per year plus a company van and Veolia benefits, with 43 hours per week and a Monday to Friday schedule. A time-served apprenticeship and strong fault-finding skills are essential.

Qualifications

• A proven engineering background in Electrical & Mechanical with a time-served apprenticeship.
• Experience fault finding and maintaining 110V, 240V and 415V equipment.
• Knowledge of Steam Boiler plant operations.
• Full clean driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Provide operation and maintenance support for Industrial Utilities equipment including steam boilers, air compressors, cooling towers and water treatment plants.
• Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems, including compliance with PSSR and LVD inspections.
• Respond to breakdowns and perform repairs on electrical, control and instrumentation systems.
• Deliver project work including minor electrical and mechanical installations.
• Maintain plant quality records, produce reports, and implement Safe Systems of Work (permits to work, risk assessments, method statements).
• Support out-of-hours alarms from mobile sites via an on-call rota.

What you'll be doing;

• Operation and maintenance support on a range of Industrial Utilities equipment which includes Steam Boilers and associated equipment, Air Compressors, Cooling Towers and Water Treatment Plants.
• Effective completion of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) activities on a range of Electrical and Mechanical systems is required; such as Mechanical maintenance to comply with PSSR and WSE insurance inspections and Low Voltage and Extra Low Voltage electrical systems.
• Breakdown and repair in line with electrical, control and instrumentation works.
• Project work including minor Electrical/ Mechanical installations.
• You will be responsible for the maintenance and publication of plant quality records,reports and implementing Safe Systems of Work to include production of Permit to Work, Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
• Supporting out of hour alarms from mobile sites through On-Call rota cover.

What we're looking for;

• A proven engineering background within the Electrical and Mechanical industry with a recognised Time Served apprenticeship.
• Proactive approach to tasks and a willingness to learn.
• Experience with Electrical and Mechanical fault finding and maintenance. (110v, 240v and 415v).
• Knowledge of Steam Boiler plant operations.
• Full clean driving licence.

Desirable:

• Experience of calibrating industrial process instrumentation
• Experience of carrying out Alarm, Trip and Interlock testing on systems
• Experience of multi-skilled work to support both Electrical and Mechanical maintenance tasks within an Industrial environment
• Knowledge of Steam Boiler plant to aid operations, maintenance and fault finding on plant
• You will have experience of producing Health & Safety documentation such as Method Statement / Risk Assessments for tasks
• Knowledge of SCADA (BMS / PMS) and PLC systems
• Fault diagnosis, repair and maintenance of Water Treatment plant & equipment such as Effluent Treatment, Demineralisation and Reverse Osmosis
• You will ideally possess qualification in some of the following areas - IOSH / CSCS Safety or equivalent, Confined Space, BOAS or equivalent, Steam Systems, Legionella Awareness, Industrial Gas Qualifications, IPAF / PASMA
