Job summary

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking a Mobile Assistant Cook to support school catering services across the borough. This permanent, term-time only role offers 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, across multiple school kitchens.

You will assist with the preparation, cooking and serving of nutritious meals, while upholding high hygiene standards and safety. Travel between sites and independent, flexible work are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience of preparing and cooking food in a busy catering environment.
• Experience of, or capability for, working within a large-scale catering operation.
• Demonstrate excellent food hygiene and food safety practices.
• Flexible, reliable and able to travel between school sites.
• Good communication skills and effective teamwork.
• Ability to work independently when required.

Responsibilities

• Preparing, cooking and serving meals in accordance with approved menus.
• Supporting the delivery of an efficient and high-quality catering service.
• Maintaining excellent food hygiene and health and safety standards.
• Assisting with stock control, cleaning and kitchen organisation.
• Providing cover and support at various school kitchens across the borough.
• Supervising kitchen operations during the absence of the Cook-in-Charge.
