Job summary

Biffa is hiring a Mobile Plant Operator for Poplars Landfill in Cannock. You will operate and maintain mobile plant equipment in a busy landfill, either unsupervised or under the supervision of management.

The role requires CPCS certification, waste/environment experience, ability to perform daily maintenance, and a full driving licence. You will follow safety rules, manage dust and litter, and assist with compliant waste handling.

Qualifications

• CPCS or equivalent mobile plant training certification.
• Experience in waste or environmental capacity.
• Ability to carry out essential daily maintenance of site plant.
• Full car driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Follow instruction from site supervisor/management and work in a safe and efficient manner.
• Ensure landfill traffic management plan is adhered to; maintain bunds, signage and roadways for safe operation.
• Daily maintenance on site plant and completion of daily plant check sheets; report defects.
• Operate site plant according to training and site rules; follow 5m and reversing rules.
• Promptly report customer queries, complaints or damage.
• Dust control by dampening road and tip face; manage mud on site and peripheral roads.
• Pest control including birds, flies and rodents; Odour control via systems and waste management at tipping area.
• Litter control using fixed and mobile nets and screens.

Mobile Plant Operator - Poplars Landfill, Cannock

Salary: £13.41 per hour

In this role you will maintain and operate mobile plant equipment in a safe and efficient manner, working in a busy landfill operation both unsupervised and under instruction by the site supervisor or management team.

Key responsibilities for this role:

• To follow instruction from site supervisor/management and work in a safe and efficient manner
• Ensure that the landfill traffic management plan is adhered to. Maintain bunds, signage and roadways to ensure safe operation for customers and plant operators
• Daily maintenance on site plant and completion of daily plant check sheets and reporting of any defects on plant immediately
• Operate the site plant according to the training given and within the requirements of site rules. Ensure that the 5m rule and reversing rules are maintained
• To promptly report customer query`s, complaints or damage
• Dust control by ensuring road and tip face are regularly dampened down by plant or fixed systems
• Control of mud on site and peripheral roads
• Pest control including birds, flies and rodents
• Odour control by ensuring odour control systems on site are working and effective waste management operations at the tipping area
• Litter control by usage of fixed and mobile litter netting and screens

Essential criteria for this role:

• CPCS or equivalent mobile plant training certification
• Relevant experience in waste or environmental capacity
• Ability to carry out essential daily maintenance of site plant
• Full car driving licence
