Job summary

Biffa Waste Services in Rotherham (Wath Upon Dearne) is seeking a Mobile Plant Operator to load and sort waste using mobile plant machinery, ensuring compliance with the site permit and municipal contract. The role is Mon-Fri with two alternating shifts (week 1 05:30-14:30, week 2 14:00-23:00).

Qualifications

• Previous mobile plant experience (e.g. FLT, Telehandler, loading shovel)
• Knowledge of MRF operations
• Willingness to undertake Level 2 City & Guilds in Sustainable Waste Management
• Good understanding of health, safety and environmental compliance
• Good people skills; communicate at all levels

Responsibilities

• Assist with MRF blockages while complying with health and safety rules
• Assist with MRF plant cleaning when needed
• Follow QHSE policies and report near misses and incidents
• Participate in site audits, checks and continuous improvement
• Manage stock control and reporting of contract and non-contract waste
• Adhere to changing company standards and legislation
• Provide light maintenance of equipment
• Assist supervisor in reviewing maintenance activities and cost control
• Maintain the highest level of housekeeping

Job description

Mobile Plant Operator – Rotherham (Wath Upon Dearne).

Salary: £31,324.80 per annum

Your primary function in this role is to load and sort waste using mobile plant machinery, ensuring compliance with the site environmental permit and municipal contract.

Your key responsibilities:

• Assist with the MRF Plant blockages while ensuring compliance with Health and safety rules and regulations.
• Assist with MRF plant cleaning when needed.
• Work in accordance with QHSE policies, including the reporting of close calls & incidents
• Involvement in best practice and continuous improvement, undertaking regular site audits/checks
• Stock control & accurate reporting of contract & non contract waste
• Comply with changes to company standards and legislation
• Providing light maintenance of equipment
• Assist site supervisor in reviewing maintenance activities, cost control, health & safety, behavioural safety observations, KPI’s and implementing necessary remedial actions in the event of variance
• Ensure the highest level of housekeeping is maintained
