Job summary

Biffa Waste Services is seeking a site operative to operate Fork Lift Trucks, Front End Bucket Loader and 360 excavators to unload and load vehicles, stockpile materials and feed the process plant at our West Midlands site.

You will perform daily maintenance, keep records for mobile plant, and conduct site housekeeping and basic equipment maintenance under supervision, following health and safety rules and site licences. Mon-Fri, 06:00-16:00 shifts.

Qualifications

• Experience operating forklift trucks on site.
• Familiar with mobile plant and fixed process equipment.
• Ability to follow site licences and health and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate Fork Lift Trucks, Front end bucket loader and 360 excavators to load/unload, stockpile materials and feed the process plant.
• Carry out daily maintenance and record keeping for mobile plant and equipment.
• Maintain housekeeping across all areas of the site.
• Perform basic maintenance and cleaning on fixed process plant under supervision.
• Follow site management directions for daily site operations.
• Conduct regular inspections of site infrastructure and manage vehicle/pedestrian traffic.

Working Pattern: 45 hours per week Mon-Fri - 06:00-16:00

A quick look at the role

The role holder, reporting directly to the Supervisor will be responsible for the operation of mobile plant, housekeeping activities, basic maintenance and cleaning of fixed process plant, associated record keeping, in compliance with site licences/PPC Permits and health and safety legislation.

Your core responsibilities

• Operation of Fork Lift Trucks, Front end Bucket loader and 360 excavators to unload and load vehicles, stockpile materials, feed the process plant, store finished products, load outgoing vehicles; carry out housekeeping and maintenance activities and any other tasks required.
• Carry out daily maintenance and record keeping for mobile plant and plant equipment.
• Carry out housekeeping activities in all areas of the site.
• Carry out basic maintenance and cleaning on fixed process plant under the direction of Supervisor and Ops Manager.
• Carry out daily operations on site as directed by site management.
• Carry our regular inspections of site infrastructure.
• Control vehicle and pedestrian traffic in all internal areas.
• Liaise with BWS and external hauliers to ensure timely dispatch of materials from site.
• Operation of Fork Lift Trucks.
• Front End Bucket loader shovel.
• 360 Excavator tracked and wheeled
