Job summary

EMR Group in Scotland is seeking a General Yard Operative to safely operate 360 Material handlers and support yard processes. You will load materials, rotate stock, and assist customers on site, working in an outdoor industrial environment.

The role requires a practical, hands-on approach, a strong safety mindset, and flexibility to perform GYO duties as needed. Rotating Saturday morning shifts are expected, with training provided where necessary.

Qualifications

• Experience operating 360 Material handlers or similar equipment (training provided).
• Outdoor industrial environment experience is beneficial.
• Strong safety awareness and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Operate 360 Material handlers to load ferrous and non-ferrous scrap materials into bulk and rigid vehicles.
• Carry out stock rotation, back-stacking, and support stock takes.
• Complete General Yard Operative (GYO) duties including loading, unloading, processing and moving materials on site.
• Assist customers and visitors on site, providing good customer service.
• Carry out routine checks on plant, equipment and work areas.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping.
• Follow safety procedures at all times.

About You

For this role you will need:

• Experience operating 360 Material handlers or similar equipment (training can be provided).
• A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn.
• A good team player who enjoys hands‑on work in an outdoor industrial environment.
• Flexible approach, able to carry out both 360 Material handlerand GYO duties.
• Strong awareness of safety and safe working practices.
