Job summary

EMR Group in Sheffield is seeking a General Yard Operative to help safely load scrap materials, manage stock, and support day-to-day yard operations. You will join an on-site team, carry out loading/unloading tasks, and perform routine checks on equipment in a busy outdoor environment.

The role requires a proactive, hands-on attitude, strong teamwork, and a commitment to safety. Training will be provided for operation of 360 Material handlers as needed, with weekend rotation including Saturday

Qualifications

• Experience operating 360 Material handlers or similar equipment
• Positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn
• Good team player who enjoys hands-on work outdoors
• Flexible, able to carry out both 360 Material handler and GYO duties
• Strong awareness of safety and safe working practices

Responsibilities

• Safely operate 360 Material handlers to load ferrous and non-ferrous scrap materials into bulk and rigid vehicles
• Carry out stock rotation, back-stacking, and support stock takes
• Complete General Yard Operative (GYO) duties as required, including loading, unloading, processing, and moving materials around site
• Assist customers and visitors on site, providing good customer service
• Carry out routine checks on plant, equipment, and work areas
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping
• Work safely at all times, following company procedures and health & safety requirements
