Job summary

LJ Recruitment is seeking an experienced Mobile Plant Fitter for a workshop and field-based role in Halstead, Essex. You will service, repair and maintain a range of construction plant and heavy machinery, both in the workshop and at customer sites across Essex and surrounding counties.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical, hydraulic and electrical fault-finding skills, with the ability to diagnose faults and maintain accurate service records.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Mobile Plant Fitter, Plant Mechanic, Plant Engineer, Field Service Engineer or similar.
• Experience servicing, maintaining and repairing construction plant, heavy machinery or similar equipment.
• Strong mechanical knowledge, with good hydraulic and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Ability to diagnose faults and carry out repairs independently, including at customer sites.
• Experience using computer diagnostic equipment would be advantageous.
• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Ability to maintain accurate service records and documentation.
• A reliable, self-motivated and flexible approach to work.
• Own tools and a full, clean UK driving licence are essential.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair a wide range of construction plant, heavy machinery and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), routine servicing and reactive repairs.
• Attend customer sites across Essex and surrounding areas to diagnose faults and complete repairs.
• Use diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve mechanical and electrical issues.
• Manage repairs from initial fault diagnosis through to completion.
• Complete repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
• Maintain accurate service records, job sheets and repair documentation.
• Ensure all work is carried out safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
