Job summary

LJ Recruitment is seeking an experienced Workshop Plant Fitter for a workshop-based role in Essex. The position involves servicing, maintaining and repairing construction plant and heavy machinery, using diagnostic tools and undertaking PPMs in a modern facility.

Applicants should have strong mechanical, hydraulic and electrical fault-finding skills, own tools, and a full UK driving licence. Monday to Friday, 7:30am-5:00pm, salary £35,000-£45,000 per annum depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Plant Fitter, Workshop Engineer, Plant Mechanic or similar.
• Experience servicing, maintaining and repairing construction plant, heavy machinery or similar equipment.
• Strong mechanical knowledge with hydraulic and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Experience using computer diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to diagnose faults, identify repairs and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair a wide range of construction plant, heavy machinery and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), routine servicing and reactive repairs.
• Use diagnostic equipment to identify faults and resolve technical issues.
• Strip, repair and rebuild mechanical and hydraulic components.
• Complete pre-delivery inspections (PDI) and safety checks as required.
• Identify additional maintenance requirements and carry out repairs per manufacturer specs.
• Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation.
• Ensure equipment is repaired safely and efficiently to a high standard.
• Work closely with the workshop team to return equipment to customers promptly.
