Job summary

OCU Group is seeking an experienced Mobile Plant Fitter to join our Plant & Transport team based around Shaftesbury, Dorset. The field-based role covers the South West, requiring travel to Bristol, Dorset and surrounding counties, starting and finishing from home.

You’ll be responsible for planned servicing, fault finding, repairs and reactive breakdowns across a varied fleet, with a company vehicle provided and overtime paid at time and a half.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in plant maintenance or mechanical fitting.
• Strong fault-finding and mechanical skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Own tools.
• Willingness to travel across the South West.
• Safety-conscious approach.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and servicing.
• Diagnose faults and complete mechanical repairs across plant and vehicles.
• Respond to reactive maintenance and breakdowns across the region.
• Maintain heavy plant, dump trucks, lorries, vans and general fleet vehicles.
• Carry out field-based and workshop repairs as required.
• Use technical manuals and manufacturer specifications.
• Maintain accurate records of servicing and inspections.
• Work closely with operational teams to minimise downtime.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and to quality standards.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards and care of assets.

Description

We are looking for an experienced Mobile Plant / Tool Fitter Mechanic to join our Plant & Transport team.

This is a field-based role covering the South West and surrounding areas, including Bristol, Dorset, Berkshire and neighbouring counties. You’ll start and finish from home, travelling across the region to maintain and repair OCU’s fleet of plant, machinery and vehicles.

You’ll be responsible for planned servicing, fault finding, repairs and reactive breakdowns across a varied fleet including heavy plant, dump trucks, lorries, vans and general fleet vehicles.

We’re looking for someone who is confident working independently, takes pride in their work and can keep equipment safe, reliable and ready for our operational teams.

• Experience maintaining heavy plant and construction equipment.
• Experience with dump trucks, excavators, loaders, telehandlers or similar.
• HGV or heavy vehicle maintenance experience.
• NVQ or equivalent mechanical/engineering qualification.
• Previous construction, utilities or infrastructure experience.
