Job summary

EMR is seeking a skilled Mobile Plant Fitter to join our Maintenance team, covering Leeds and surrounding sites with occasional travel to other UK locations. You will perform reactive, preventative, predictive and planned maintenance on a range of heavy mobile plant and port equipment, ensuring safety and reliability.

The role focuses on fault diagnosis across hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems, using OEM equipment and manuals, with LO TO TO procedures and collaboration with

• Proven experience maintaining and repairing heavy mobile plant in an industrial environment.
• Demonstrable competence on Caterpillar, Liebherr, Sennebogen equipment.
• Strong fault-finding across hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned maintenance, fault finding, repairs and breakdown response on mobile plant and port equipment.
• Diagnose faults using OEM diagnostic equipment and manuals.
• Apply LOTOTO procedures and safe systems of work.
• Support continuous improvement to increase reliability and availability.
• Collaborate with site operations, contractors and engineering to minimise downtime.

About Our Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mobile Plant Fitter to join our Maintenance team. As a key member of the maintenance function, you will be responsible for carrying out reactive, preventative, predictive, and planned maintenance activities across our South Yorkshire operations.

This is a mobile role covering Leeds and surrounding sites, with occasional travel to other UK locations when operationally required.

The role will operate Monday-Friday.

What You Will Be Doing

• Carry out planned maintenance, fault finding, repairs, and breakdown response on a wide range of mobile plant and port equipment: Material Handlers (Sennebogen, Liebherr, Caterpillar), Wheeled Loading Shovels, Hydraulic Cranes, etc.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic faults using OEM diagnostic equipment and technical manuals.
• Apply and adhere to LOTOTO (Lock Out, Tag Out, Try Out) procedures and company safe systems of work.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing equipment reliability and availability.
• Work closely with site operations, contractors, and engineering colleagues to minimise downtime and maximise operational performance

About You

• Proven experience maintaining and repairing heavy mobile plant in a port, waste, quarry, recycling, aggregates, bulk handling, or industrial environment.
• Demonstrable competence working on: Caterpillar, Liebherr, Sennebogen
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Experience working with material handlers, loading shovels, cranes, reach stackers, forklifts, and heavy industrial plant.
• NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification in Plant Maintenance, Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
