Job summary

Pioneer Selection Ltd is recruiting a Mobile Plant Fitter to service, maintain and repair mobile and heavy plant across North Yorkshire, County Durham, Tyne and Wear. The role is field-based with a focus on reliability and client service.

You will work both independently and within an engineering team, ensuring equipment uptime and safety across sites, with opportunities for overtime and professional development.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Mobile Plant Fitter or Plant Engineer.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
• Experience on heavy plant, construction equipment or industrial machinery.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair a wide range of mobile and heavy plant equipment across multiple customer sites.
• Work independently and as part of a wider engineering team to keep plant machinery in top condition.
• Minimise downtime and deliver a high level of service to clients.

Salary - £47000 Basic = O/T

Job Role of the Mobile Plant Fitter

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Mobile Plant Fitter to join a leading heavy industry and plant maintenance business covering North Yorkshire, County Durham, and Tyne and Wear. This is a field-based role where you will be responsible for the service, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of mobile and heavy plant equipment across multiple customer sites.

You will work independently and as part of a wider engineering team, ensuring all plant machinery is maintained to a high standard, minimising downtime, and delivering a high level of service to clients. The role offers variety, autonomy, and the chance to work with a well-established and respected organisation.

Non-Negotiable Requirements of the Mobile Plant Fitter

• Proven experience as a Mobile Plant Fitter or Plant Engineer.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
• Experience working on heavy plant, construction machinery, or industrial equipment.
• Full UK driving licence.

Essential Requirements for the Mobile Plant Fitter

• Mechanical engineering background.
• Experience with servicing, maintenance, and breakdown repair of plant equipment.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload across multiple sites.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

Desirable Requirements for the Mobile Plant Fitter

• Hydraulics and pneumatics experience.
• Electrical fault-finding knowledge (basic to intermediate).
• Experience working in a field-based or mobile engineering role.
• NVQ or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Plant Maintenance.
