Job summary

Roundhouse Recruitment Ltd is recruiting a Mobile Plant Engineer (Construction Plant) to service and repair small to medium construction machinery on a Midlands regional patch from Wolverhampton. You will diagnose hydraulics and electrical faults and perform routine servicing on excavators and similar equipment.

Qualifications

• Background in construction plant, heavy plant, agricultural machinery or heavy commercial vehicles/HGVs.
• Strong hydraulic and electrical diagnostic experience.
• Recognised Level 3 NVQ or City & Guilds or equivalent technical qualification.

Responsibilities

• Field-based servicing, diagnostics and repair of construction machinery.
• Predominantly small to medium excavators and related heavy plant.
• Mechanical, hydraulic and electrical fault finding.
• Regional Midlands patch with no regular overnight stays.
• Hours: 8:00–16:30 Mon-Thu, 8:00–15:30 Fri; 39-hour week plus overtimes.

Are you a Plant Engineer or similar with strong Hydraulic and Electrical diagnostic skills looking for a stable days-based Service role covering a local patch with an award-winning Engineering Group known for their great working environment and employee benefits?
This is an opportunity to join a long-established engineering group expanding its construction machinery service operation. You will receive full product training while working predominantly on small to medium construction machinery, including excavators, carrying out technical diagnostics, servicing and repairs across a regional Midlands patch.
The role offers a 39-hour working week, no regular overnight stays, an early Friday finish and excellent long-term progression. Engineers are encouraged to develop technically, with routes into Senior Technician, Technical Specialist and Team Leader positions.

The Role:

• Field-based servicing, diagnostics and repair of construction machinery
• Predominantly small to medium excavators and associated heavy plant
• Mechanical, hydraulic and electrical fault finding
• Breakdown diagnosis and technical troubleshooting
• Regional Midlands territory with no regular overnight stays
• Monday to Thursday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
• Friday, 8:00am - 3:30pm
• 39-hour basic week with additional hours paid at 1.5x
• Full manufacturer and product training

The Person:

• Background in construction plant, heavy plant, agricultural machinery or heavy commercial vehicles / HGVs
• Strong practical hydraulics and electrical diagnostic experience
• Confident fault finding across heavy mobile machinery
• Recognised Level 3, NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent technical qualification
• Excavator experience advantageous but not essential
