Job summary

The Roundhouse in the Midlands is seeking a Mobile Plant Engineer (Local Patch) to service and repair construction machinery on a Midlands regional patch, primarily Wolverhampton/West Midlands. You will receive full product training and a clear path for progression within a long-established engineering group.

The role offers a 39-hour week with no regular overnight stays, early Friday finish, and overtime paid at 1.5x.

Qualifications

• Experience with hydraulic and electrical diagnostics on construction machinery
• Background in field service or mobile repair
• NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds or equivalent qualification
• Willingness to work on a local patch

Responsibilities

• Field-based servicing, diagnostics and repair of construction machinery
• Predominantly small to medium excavators and heavy plant
• Mechanical, hydraulic and electrical fault finding
• Breakdown diagnosis and technical troubleshooting
• Regional Midlands territory with no regular overnight stays
• Monday to Thursday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
• Friday, 8:00am - 3:30pm
• 39-hour basic week with additional hours paid at 1.5x
• Full manufacturer and product training

Job Description

Are you a Plant Engineer or similar with strong Hydraulic and Electrical diagnostic skills looking for a stable days-based Service role covering a local patch with an award-winning Engineering Group known for their great working environment and employee benefits? This is an opportunity to join a long-established engineering group expanding its construction machinery service operation. You will receive full product training while working predominantly on small to medium construction machinery, including excavators, carrying out technical diagnostics, servicing and repairs across a regional Midlands patch. The role offers a 39-hour working week, no regular overnight stays, an early Friday finish and excellent long-term progression. Engineers are encouraged to develop technically, with routes into Senior Technician, Technical Specialist and Team Leader positions.

The Role

• Field-based servicing, diagnostics and repair of construction machinery

• Breakdown diagnosis and technical troubleshooting

The Person

• Background in construction plant, heavy plant, agricultural machinery or heavy commercial vehicles / HGVs
• Strong practical hydraulics and electrical diagnostic experience
• Confident fault finding across heavy mobile machinery
• Recognised Level 3, NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent technical qualification
• Excavator experience advantageous but not essential
