Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 DOE
OTE: Up to £52,000

The Role
We are looking for an experienced and customer-focused Mobile Plant Engineer to join our growing service team. This is a field-based role responsible for carrying out diagnostics, servicing, maintenance and repairs on a wide range of construction, agricultural, industrial, heavy plant and recycling equipment across an established customer territory.
This is a customer-facing position where you'll build strong relationships, deliver outstanding service, and ensure equipment is maintained to the highest standards. You'll work independently while being supported by a professional service team and have access to ongoing technical training and development.
Key Responsibilities as a Mobile Plant Enigneer:
- Diagnose faults, service and repair a wide range of plant and machinery to a high standard.
- Deliver a high first-time fix rate to minimise customer downtime.
- Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with customers.
- Understand customers' equipment and operational requirements, providing effective service solutions.
- Communicate important customer feedback and technical information to the wider business.
- Promote aftermarket products and service offerings where appropriate.
- Respond promptly and professionally to customer breakdowns and service requests.
- Use laptop-based diagnostic software to identify and resolve technical issues.
- Accurately complete job reports and service documentation using handheld devices.
- Carry out servicing and maintenance in line with manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain a professional image and deliver exceptional customer service at all times.
- Work safely and in accordance with company Health & Safety procedures.
- Contribute positively to the wider service team through effective communication and teamwork.
- Participate in ongoing technical training and continuous professional development.
- Undertake any other duties reasonably required within the scope of the role.
Working Hours as a Mobile Plant Engineer
- 40-hour working week
- Monday to Friday
- 8:00am - 4:30pm
- 30-minute unpaid lunch break
Essential Requirements for a Mobile Plant Engineer
- Minimum NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Plant Engineering, Servicing and Maintenance.
- Experience servicing and repairing construction or heavy plant equipment.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems (open and closed loop), transmissions, axles and electrical systems including CAN bus.
- Ability to diagnose and repair faults independently in a field-based environment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Professional and confident when working directly with customers.
- Able to work under pressure and manage your own workload effectively.
- Full UK driving licence with a good driving record.
- Proof of right to work in the UK.
- Must live within approximately 30 minutes of the assigned service territory or depot.
Desirable
- Experience working on construction, agricultural or industrial plant machinery.
- Previous field service experience.
- Manufacturer product training and technical certifications.
- Portfolio of relevant qualifications and achievements.
